Hey, Friends — Welcome back! Today, in Part 3 of our series, we’re diving into slab selection with our friends and partners at Walker Zanger — breaking down the beauty and differences between marble, quartz, porcelain, and onyx; plus the finishes that make them shine. Marble — timeless, natural, and one-of-a-kind. Every slab is unique, with elegant veining that adds instant luxury. It’s softer, so it develops a patina over time — perfect if you love character. It does need regular sealing and a little extra care to avoid etching or staining. Quartz — engineered for strength and consistency. You get durability, low maintenance, and a huge range of colors and patterns — ideal for busy kitchens and baths. It cleans up easily with mild soap and water — no sealing required. Porcelain — ultra-durable, stain- and heat-resistant, and available in large formats with incredibly realistic stone looks — great for indoor or outdoor use. It’s virtually maintenance-free — just wipe and go. Onyx — striking, translucent, and dramatic — often used as a statement piece or backlit for a glowing effect. THAT’S A WRAP! It was an exciting, busy, beautiful (and exhausting - IYKYK) week at High Point Market! Here’s a super-quick little recap of some of the things that inspired me most on this trek! First, it’s not easy to find inspiration when you’re actually “looking” for it. For me, I have to relax and let it sort of jump out at me! This year, it was the DETAILS that impressed me most. I love to see those special, intentionally designed touches that give a piece of furniture, art, or accessory its heartbeat; and I was not disappointed. It was also an exciting week for Seasonal Living! Working and partnering with Seasonal Living on my Provenance Signature Collection has been a great joy and one that has provided me with a TON of growth and learning over the past 7 years; and this year we bumped it up a notch! It’s my great honor to share that I have expanded my partnership with Gary Pettitt, CEO of Seasonal Living, this year and have stepped in as Seasonal Living’s new Creative Brand Direction and Marketing Consultant where I am advising on creative direction, brand identity, product, and vision. I have also designed 5 new collections for SL (yep, you heard that right, 50 new SKUs), and will be focusing specifically on expanding and deepening the connections with our beloved design, architecture, building, and retail communities. I’m thrilled and humbled to be on this journey with Gary and his team and beyond grateful for his trust and faith in me. We shared the plan for the new brand direction along with a sneak peek at the new collections this week during HPMKT, with a full launch slated for this fall! 🍂 And finally, check out the cute airbnb at the end. Getting close to the homestretch on our #4ptclientpatienceisagloriousvirtue project and I couldn’t be more excited! This 3+ year project has been a beautiful lesson in patience, technique, details, communication, respect, perseverance, and commitment. Welp, that’s a wrap on the 2024 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show, and what a show it was!!! There’s no question that our industry has made it through the last three years to see triumph once again. There was certainly no shortage of creativity, innovation, enthusiasm and exceptional product diversity! (And on a side note: I actually WALKED the entire show in zero pain - no cane, which in itself was insanely exciting! First time walking without pain in 7 years!!!) A massive congratulations to the @houseofrohl team for winning BEST LARGE BOOTH DESIGN and all the talented designers who crafted such glorious vignettes! I’m so honored to have been selected again to this’s years booth vignettes design team! To be in such stellar company was so inspiring.
