For me, it’s a very slow coffee and prayer with the sunrise; some early morning journaling, gardening, and a nap by the pool; an at-home facial and hair mask; a trip to the Farmer’s Market with the hubby and a heathy bit of grazing on clean food!

Happy Thursday, friends! I hope your week has been productive and wonderful so far! I'm back in the office this week, and while I am catching up on paperwork, projects, and client connections after the last three weeks of back-and-forth business travel, I can't help but acknowledge how beautifully things always run while I am traveling! I am SO blessed to have such a great team; and so grateful for such an enthusiastic, talented and 100% supportive partner (love you, babe 🤍).

A huge THANK YOU to our small-but-mighty, smart, dedicated and tireless team that makes coming to work an absolute joy and privilege; but especially, that carry the load while I am out of the office! You guys are the BEST!!!

It’s #designtalktuesday, friends, and I’m excited to share my thoughts on DINING NOOKS. I can honestly say I am absolutely obsessed with creating and carving out clever spaces for gatherings that feel cozy and inviting, but also elegant, chic and stylish; and the nook is just that kind of special space!

Why, do I love them???
Here’s a few of my favorite reasons why:

👉🏻 A nook-style seating plan can actually seat way MORE people than actual dining chairs around a table;

👉🏻 You don’t need a lot of space to create a cozy nook;

👉🏻 It’s a great option if the room is “path of travel challenged!”

👉🏻 It can be an area for multiple activities, such as additional cooking and prep space (especially if you customize it with a slab of quartz that coordinates or matches the countertops), and it can be a VERY easy surface to maintain;

👉🏻 It’s a flexible area that can bridge that funky function between the kitchen island and the more formal dining area;

👉🏻 It’s a much more relaxed type of seating plan thats perfect for work, serving, reading, lounging, or yummy snuggles and naps if you’re so inclined!

Good morning!!! Isn’t this just the most charming petite, french inspired, guest bath ever? 🤍 From our recently completed project, #4ptclientnapachicmeetshamptonsfarmhouse.

We scaled every detail and selection carefully and intentionally, without compromising the look and intention of a well appointed generous guest bath. We upgraded all the plumbing , electrical and clearances, and converted the tub/shower combo to a large single shower. The custom glass shower enclosure allows the space to breath and feel so much larger, as do the cement floor tiles that flow throughout the space and into the shower. And…that darling window! 🤍 We also opted for a smaller sized sink and customized the stone top for the vanity to allow for more countertop surface space.

You have blown my mind and filled my heart by how much you have all LOVED the steam shower in this primary bath, and I think we can all agree, it is just about as lovely as it gets from this view too! #4ptclientnapachicmeetshamptonsfarmhouse

We designed smooth finishes and clean lines and forms in this bath to highlight and promote serenity and flow, while keeping the eye and spirit engaged in the nature just outside the trio of windows.

Hey, friends! Happy #DesignTalkTuesday! Today, it’s all about appliances and how important it is that we (as your guide, your contractor, your builder and designer) know EVERYTHING about what we are specifying and recommending!

Our clients count on our word, our recommendation, our experience and expertise, and it is IMPERATIVE THAT WE ARE VERY WELL VERSED on ANYTHING that we recommend to our beloved clients. Even more important is the in-depth in-person education; specifically, the details about installation, additional cost requirements, and fabrication details that are translated to any and all fabricators and contractors (i.e., electrical, plumbing, and cabinetry). This is all part of what we bring to the table. Great preparation reduces stress, delays, and ultimately unexpected costs!

So, this is why we take the time to learn; and why this week, I am in Napa, at the @sksappliances Education and Design Center taking a deep dive into learning all we can to bring our clients the best OPTIONS in kitchen and bath design!

And in order to truly provide the most wisdom, gain access to the most updated tools and technology, and to maintain a deep intimate knowledge of the appliances we specify for our clients, our team MUST take the time to immerse ourselves in resources and education! This is truly the only way we feel comfortable serving our clients and recommending products. It is a commitment we feel is at the core of our values and services, and ultimately, our success!

It's #DesignTalkTuesday lovelies, and it's all about WELLNESS today! Specifically, the benefits of "designing" STEAM to your daily wellness routine!

A couple of years ago (pre-COVID, by like, a month) I attended KBIS (Kitchen and Bath Industry Show) with a very special group of designers (CUE the #Designhounds 🐾 ). One of the @modenus @designhounds long-time Sponsors is @mr_steam @steamtherapy (who we literally, LOVE - Can I get an AMEN from my Designhounds 🙌🏻 for @msmarthaore 🤍).

With an immersive deep dive into the TRUE benefits steam has on our mental and physical health and wellbeing, we discussed (in detail) why adding a STEAM shower to your remodel wish list can change your life.

Personally, I can add, that it HAS changed my life. Designing a daily steam ritual to our family's routine has reduced anxiety, medicinal reliance, stress levels, water usage, and allergy symptoms, while increasing circulation and respiratory ease, and so much more; and it's a perfectly lovely and luxurious experience to relax in a steam shower at home.

Hey, beautiful friends, it has been quite the crazy-busy Monday here at the studio, but sharing a few more lovely details this evening, and feeling all the feels from our #cleanfreshmodern #4ptclientnapachicmeetshamptonsfarmhouse project, sure makes the day seem like all the focus, energy, and hard work is so very worth it!

Isn't the simplicity of this charming shared kid's bath just wonderful? We opted for simple no-shade lighting, clean soft curved mirrors and monochromatic easy color palette to achieve a space that not only is youthful, durable and functional with plenty of storage, but will also support many years of changing tastes as the kids grow!

Sharing another sneak peek of the charming shared kid's bath from our #4ptclientnapachicmeetshamptonsfarmhouse project!

We took our cues from the past and added vintage inspired touches such as a linen shower curtain, small scale subway tile, shadeless lighting, and durable over-dyed runner, while keeping the lines and finishes #cleanfreshmodern. We LOVE mixing styles and materials to create truly unique client-centered spaces that feel collected and timeless.

Hey friends! Happy #designtalktuesday! We’re off to Vegas to the Hospitality Design Expo, so today we thought we’d share with you some of the HUGE benefits of resourcing furniture and materials for your home (for both indoor and outdoor) that are built and regulated for commercial use, longevity, and wear-and-tear! Specifically today, fabric!

In the day, if you wanted to consider “contract grade” furnishings you would have to accept the fact that your living room may look like a dental office. 🤦🏼‍♀️ But these days, that’s NOT the case! Today’s contract grade fabrics are absolutely beautiful and have all the qualities and function of commercial grade use but look and feel luxurious. Even better, today there is so much variety! Mixing and weaving textures, patterns, and colors is now very exciting and VERY possible!

One of our favorite brands of contract performance grade fabric is @cryptonfabric; it’s stain, odor, and moisture resistant, AND easy to clean! In this FAMILY ROOM / LIBRARY we used a lovely oyster shade of white that feels “to the hand” like velvety chenille. We layered soft white with other contrasting and textured performance fabrics for a warm, inviting, and collected space!

Clients today really want to LIVE in their homes, and they want it to reflect luxury AND function. So, gone are the days of plastic on the furniture, or “company” rooms, and hello to soft furnishings built for pets, kids, and real living!

Nothing beats a crisp and charming #cleanfreshmodern guest bath space; even when you're on a budget!

Here, we purchased a beautiful basic white @potterybarn vanity (without the top or sink) and designed a lovely custom @Caesarstone countertop and notched backsplash in Organic White, a wall mounted faucet, a lovely oval sink, and new @anthropologie hardware! Instead of costly marble subway tiles throughout, we opted for gorgeous and easy-to-maintain porcelain Carrara tiles with subtle veining for the shower walls and used our budget for the coordinating Carrara marble mosaic tiles for the floor.

We finished it off with a custom seamless glass enclosure, a simple spray of seasonal white flowers, pretty white towels, a contrasting hand made artisan bowl, and voila; a durable space with loads of personality and classic style!

Hi, lovelies! Let’s talk about tile! It’s one of the key vibe-builders in any space (but most especially the kitchen and bath) and can be bold, soft, delicate, or wild… but whatever the style, it’s a great way to add that strategic perfect touch of personality!

In this kitchen, we worked closely with the clients to create a space that illustrates their love for blending textures, styles, and tones. Staying true to the overall concept of an open, inviting, and uniquely stylish home, we mixed mid-century details with modern farmhouse architectural elements, to create a home that’s says, “welcome home…we’re glad you’re here!”

There is no doubt that this gorgeous green textural and tonal tile is THE showstopper detail that put the exclamation point on this stunning remodel. (Well, there’s the amazing ceiling… but that’s another post! 😉).

It’s #designtalktuesday, lovely friends, where every Tuesday we’ll focus on a unique design element and share strategies and solutions for designing YOUR best home, office, or business! 🙌🏻 Today, we’re talking about kitchen design!

People often ask us about "upper cabinets", and “if they are necessary”? We say, "Nope. Not necessarily”. But, keep this in mind…

When considering the overall function and aesthetics of a kitchen, you should always first keep in mind your personal lifestyle must-have requirements and overall objectives. There is a tremendous amount of inquiry we do before our pencil ever touches the drafting board.

Consider such important and specific lifestyle details such as how you need your storage to serve YOUR unique needs; consider such details as food preparation habits; are you right-handed or left-handed; sight lines; and always consider kids, family, pets, accessibility, and entertaining; these are just a few of the deep discussion points we flesh out with our clients when considering a kitchen remodel or new build.

So, back to the question about upper storage...

In this project we reduced/removed the upper storage "bulk" and added a lovely open shelf. This serves as a display shelf for herbs, favorite vintage artwork, and a collection of "every day" cutting boards, etc. See the charming stone shelf in our last feed post! 👀

But, how does it REALLY work?

We add the reduced storage BACK IN to the kitchen in the most creative ways possible so that we aren't really "reducing" the storage at all. Utilizing every linear and under counter INCH of space to maximize storage and function is 🗝.

BONUS: Also, keep in mind, that reducing some of the upper cabinet "bulk" can lead to reduced stress and a more "open" feeling throughout the entire space 🙌🏻; which is especially useful when designing for wellness!

Small spaces never mean you have to compromise on personality and function! Here’s a sneak peek at a favorite little corner from the #4ptclientnapachicmeetshamptonsfarmhouse remodel.

We gave this VERY petite powder/guest bath quite the makeover, but there is no shortage of major style and charm!

Besides upgrading all the plumbing and electrical throughout the home, we converted the existing tub/shower to a large open shower and relocated existing plumbing to meet current code requirements. The darling french inspired vanity we selected has surprising storage and a petite new sink maximizes the custom vanity countertop surface!
